Aspen Science Center
& Snowmass Tourism
In 2011, a bulldozer accidentally plowed into one of the most important Ice Age discoveries of all time—right in Snowmass, Colorado.
While this easily excited the world’s top paleontologists, science isn’t exactly high on bucket list for most tourists to the mounatin resort town.
Snowmass Tourism came to us to help them breathe new excitement into the discovery story through an interactive outdoor musuem.
We created the obvious things—like a logo, design system, and website—but took it further through artist collaborations, interactive exhibits, and educational opportunities all over the mountain.
Of course, assets were limited. And it’s pretty hard to get a well-lit photo of a Columbian Mammoth. So we designed a system that emphasized earthen patterns and sunset hues. And wrote copy that was fun for kids (and their parents) to read on-mountain and online.
